Why having clarity as an entrepreneur is essential.

With three months to the end of 2022, we are here to remind you about an essential aspect of your entrepreneurial journey: Clarity. According to Google, Clarity is “the quality of being coherent and intelligible.’’

As you read this article, we ask that you reflect on your entrepreneurial journey. How well has your business faired in the past nine months? Did you have clarity of your business, products, customers and marketing strategy?

Having clarity is crucial for an entrepreneur to build a strong and thriving business. But without clarity, there is a risk of reaching out to the wrong customers, applying the wrong strategy, copying everything the competitors are doing and offering the wrong products.

Clarity is important for entrepreneurs because:

  1. It enables entrepreneurs to stay focused on what matters most in their organisations. This focus will help them deal with distractions that tend to sway them from the main goal. This same principle can be applied in one`s life as well leading to a balanced life.
  1. When one has clarity, one can understand the main goal/purpose of an organisation. According to Peter Voogd, Clarity is the ultimate power, and if you want results you’ve never had you need to get 100 per cent clear on what you want. Therefore if the main purpose of an organisation is clear, it is easy to get the much-anticipated results. As you review your organisation, find out whether the main purpose was clear from the start.
  1. With clarity, the metrics to be achieved will be clear. For example, how many products will be released in 2023? At what point should each be released and in what season? What is the expected profit? How shall it be collected? When it is all clear, it is easy to implement and track.
  1. Clarity helps entrepreneurs to know what to ask for when they need help. When you know what you`re about, you will know what you want and what you don`t want from people. The meetings with potential funders and partners will be more meaningful.
  1. Team synergy and less micro-management. When there is clarity, a team can work well to achieve the laid-out goals. There is no need for micromanagement since every team member knows what to do and how to do it.
  1. It is easy to point out what is working and what isn`t. This boils down to clarity and how it has been enforced. The review process for an organisation will reveal the pressure points and the good points. The pressure points could be things that are not working and are weighing down the organisation`s process while the good points are the things that are working well for the organisation. Those are maintained and the pressure points are eliminated or improved.
  1. Clarity helps with building systems for the business which in turn develops the business structures. When the organisation`s purpose has been defined, it will be easy to build systems and structures that will facilitate the fulfilment of the purpose and goals. It also gives room to test the processes innovatively and identify the ones which are suitable for the organisation`s growth.
  1. And lastly, with clarity, entrepreneurs maintain balance in their personal lives. With the smooth running of the organisation, it will be easy for the entrepreneur to step out in confidence.
