Byayi Creations, A Start Up Story

Byayi Creations, A Start Up Story

overview

Byayi Creations is a business that focuses on up-cycling banana waste into reusable household products such as table mats, cutlery holders, photo frames, wall hangings and other household accessories. Its founder, Andrew Mukuve, attended a Kyusa training session related to overall business health and focusing on being intentional about your brand and customers.

Andrew explained that he was out of ideas on how to kick start his business and take it to the next level. He had gotten a recommendation from another local business owner to join our session.

in his own words

“The entire Kyusa training was an eye opener; the assignments and activities pushed me. Although, specifically, the topic Value Proposition helped me to evaluate not only my personal values but my business’ values as well. I also got to understand the fact that people buy value, and not necessarily the product. Another thing that also struck me as important was the aspect of Customer Segmentation. I learnt that I can’t sell to everyone and that has helped me to identify my customers, and so far, it’s been working! Last but not the least was the lesson on Revenue Stream – finding out that I can diversify within my business has been a game changer.”

“We have made a minimum gross average of 1.2 million UGX in sales each month since the Kyusa training session, with a trend upward in recent months.”

“We now sell on Jumia so we are able to reach more customers than before. It was during the Kyusa training that we were challenged to invest in building a strong online presence which has greatly paid off.”

“I am very grateful for the Kyusa community and their continued support.”

conclusion

At Kyusa, we aim to spark new thinking in our clients, so they can unlock new potential for their businesses. We are so proud that Andrew has continued to grow his footprint across Uganda, implementing some strategies he learnt via our workshop. It is wonderful, also, that Byayi Creations is focused on creating up-cycled goods, since natural resources are so precious and often wasted unnecessarily.
